1. Introduction
Bible Snap (“we”, “our”, or “the App”) is a scripture scanning application developed and operated by Stackd LTD, a company registered in England and Wales (Company No. 13835583), 124 City Road, London, EC1V 2NX. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, who we share it with, and what rights you have over your data.
By using Bible Snap, you agree to the collection and use of information as described in this policy.
2. Information We Collect
2.1 Information You Provide
Bible Snap does not require you to create an account. We do not ask for your name, email address, or any other personal identifiers to use the core features of the App.
2.2 Camera and Images
The App requests access to your device camera solely to allow you to photograph scripture passages. When you scan a passage:
- The image is transmitted to Google LLC (via the Gemini API) for the sole purpose of extracting the text content.
- A copy of the image is stored on our servers (Cloudflare R2) so that it can be displayed within the App alongside your scan history.
- Images are not used for advertising, profiling, or AI model training by us.
2.3 Scripture Text (AI Summarisation)
Once text has been extracted from your image, that scripture text is sent to our servers to generate a short reflection summary using an AI model. We process this text to provide the summarisation feature only and do not store, profile, or re-use this text for any other purpose.
2.4 On-Device Data
Your reading habits, progress, bookmarks, and scan history are stored locally on your device only using standard iOS storage. We do not have access to this data. It is not synced to our servers.
2.5 Subscription and Payment Data
If you subscribe to a paid plan, payments are processed by Apple Inc. through the App Store. Subscription state and entitlements are managed by RevenueCat Inc. Neither we nor RevenueCat store your payment card details. RevenueCat may collect certain transaction identifiers and subscription status data. Please review RevenueCat's Privacy Policy at revenuecat.com/privacy.
2.6 Notifications
If you enable reading reminders, these notifications are scheduled and delivered locally on your device. We do not use a third-party push notification service and do not transmit any data in connection with notifications.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use the information described above solely for the following purposes:
| Data | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Camera / images | Extract scripture text via Google Gemini API; display in scan history |
| Scripture text | Generate reflection summary via our AI service |
| Subscription status | Unlock premium features via RevenueCat |

4. Third-Party Services
Bible Snap uses the following third-party services that may process data on our behalf:

We implement appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your data during transmission, including the use of TLS/HTTPS for all network requests. However, no method of electronic transmission is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
7. Children's Privacy
Bible Snap is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will take steps to delete that information.
8. Your Rights
Depending on your location, you may have the following rights regarding your personal data:
- Access: Request confirmation of whether we hold personal data about you.
- Deletion: Request deletion of any personal data we hold about you.
- Objection: Object to certain processing of your data.
- Portability: Request a copy of your data in a portable format.
Since we do not store personal data on our servers beyond transient processing, most data rights are exercised through your device settings (e.g. deleting the app removes all on-device data). For any requests or questions, contact us at contact@stackd.org.
If you are located in the European Economic Area, United Kingdom, or California, you may have additional rights under the GDPR, UK GDPR, or CCPA respectively.
9. International Data Transfers
When scripture text or images are processed via Google's Gemini API or our servers, data may be transferred to and processed in countries outside your country of residence, including the United States. These transfers are subject to appropriate safeguards including standard contractual clauses where required.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any material changes by updating the “Last updated” date at the top of this policy and, where appropriate, through an in-app notice. Continued use of the App after changes take effect constitutes your acceptance of the revised policy.
